Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、17世紀の物語絵を主たる対象とし、「主題（画題）」と「環境（制作と受容）」という要素の相互影響およびその「階層化」に着目することにより、この時期の物語絵生成の仕組みを明らかにしようとするものである。本研究が着目する「階層化」とは、例えば主題においては、故事人物等の中国主題、軍記、源氏絵、御伽草子などの画題の階層、また、制作環境としては、狩野派や土佐派のような正系画派を最上層として、絵屋・絵草紙屋へと裾野が広がる階層化、受容環境としては、特権階級、とりわけ大名家から、富裕町衆へと広がる階層化を想定する。物語絵制作の一つのピークであるこの時期の作品をめぐる環境を明らかにすることを目指す。
