Outline of Research at the Start

前衛的な活動を展開したものの、未だ再評価が充分ではない女性芸術家に着目し、美術史の上で果たした役割を検証する。長谷川春子、内間俊子、朝倉摂、朝倉響子、福島秀子らに着目し、戦中から戦後の占領期を経て、国際的に活動の場が開かれていく1960年代までを中心に考察を行う。5人の共通点は、文学者、詩人、音楽家、建築家など美術以外の分野の芸術家と交流して制作活動を展開したことであり、それが美術家としての前衛性を決定づけている。そのため、芸術家同士の交流を重点的に調査、検証することを通し、近代以降の日本美術史の新たな側面を浮かび上がらせる。
