Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は1937年の盧溝橋事件以降、大手映画会社・日活が製作した映画の企画・製作を徹底的に調査・分析し、戦争の影響を多角的に検討するものである。 1942年に経営上の問題を抱えていた日活は、戦時下の国家的関与で、製作部門が大映に統合されてしまう。最終的には製作停止に追い込まれる日活だが、文部大臣賞を受賞した1939年公開の『土と兵隊』（田坂具隆監督）など、注目すべき戦争映画を数多く生み出してきた。そうした映画の製作に関して背後でどのような力学が働いていたのかを製作関連の資料などを通して調査し、それがじっさいの映画にどう反映していたのかをテクスト分析によって明らかにする。
