Outline of Research at the Start

現代のポピュラー文化には「終わらない」物語が氾濫している。その傾向は、日本のポピュラー文化の中核をなすマンガにおいて、特に顕著である。連載を基盤とした物語の長編化、広告戦略としてのメディアミックスによる物語の複数化、ファンによる独自の物語の翻案によって、物語は際限なく生成され、受容され続ける。なぜ、ポピュラー文化の物語は「終わらない」のか。本研究は、ポピュラー文化における物語の拡張性を支える力学について、マンガを主な事例としつつ「物語とメディアの関係性」と「物語の生成と受容の関係性」を相互に分析することで、実証的および理論的に明らかにしようとするものである。
