Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、アイルランド独立期に日本やインド文化に関心を寄せたイェイツの分析を中心に据えつつも、お雇い外国人として来日後、インドに移住しヒンズー教徒となってインド独立を訴えたジェイムズ・カズンズや、インドの独立とパキスタンの分離独立時の動乱のインドに滞在し、作品を書いた北アイルランド生まれの詩人マクニースの作品を分析し、イェイツと比較を行う。これにより、彼らのナショナル・アイデンティティ形成過程における東洋文化の受容の重層性を探るものである。
