Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、中世後期イングランドにおける聖なる身体をめぐるイデオロギーについて、中世のさまざまなジャンルのテクストから明らかにする。聖人・聖女の身体を特徴的に扱う聖人伝を主要な史料と位置付け、中英語聖人伝における聖人・聖女の身体を扱った移葬や奇跡に関するテクストを分析する。また、中世で広く読まれた聖人伝以外の宗教・神学テクスト、そして医療書を手掛かりに、聖人の身体表象を分析することで、聖なる身体をめぐるイデオロギーを中世の身体論研究の文脈に位置づけることを目指す。
