Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、21世紀のアメリカ文学の戦争小説において、「翻訳」の概念を検討することが不可欠であることを軸として構想されている。ここでいう「翻訳」は、単に言語間のコミュニケーションにとどまらず、言語のポリティクスを背景とした他者への「共感」という問題と常に絡み合っている。そのため、本研究は、対象とする戦争小説を、アメリカの戦争文学の系譜のなかに限定して論じるのではなく、共感と断絶という21世紀アメリカ小説の枠組みの一部として捉え直し、特定の戦争や作家のエスニシティなどの枠組みを越えた21世紀アメリカの戦争文学論の完成を目指す。
