Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、19世紀アメリカ女性作家たちのレジリエンスの諸相を、アメリカン・ルネサンス期の男性作家たちの作品とも比較しつつ探究し、その「レジリエンス・ナラティヴ」の系譜を提示することにある。現代社会の様々な問題と密接に結びついた学際的なレジリエンスの言説と19世紀アメリカ文学研究とを接続しようという分野横断的な本研究課題は、アンテベラム期の奴隷制や領土拡張運動等社会的動乱の激しい時代にあって、人がいかに過酷な状況を生き延びていけるのかについて、19世紀アメリカ人作家たち、とりわけ女性作家たちがどのように想像し、作品に表象していったのかを、「レジリエンス」を鍵概念として分析しようとするものである。
