Outline of Research at the Start

本研究課題は、アメリカの現代作家トマス・ピンチョンの文学作品を媒介にして、人間例外主義を排した環境思想の確立や、生命・非生命を問わないさまざまな存在間のキンシップ構築といった、きわめて現在的な国際的課題に取り組むものである。具体的には、ピンチョンの代表作である『重力の虹』の作品にあらわれる菌類やその他の微生物とのキンシップの分析を起点とし、現代アメリカ文学の環境人文学的読解を試みる。
