Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、冷戦期における米国の対日文化外交がTennessee Williamsの芸術的関心を日本（の伝統演劇）に導いた可能性を探るものである。この検証のために本研究は次の3つの課題に取り組む。①Williams日本訪問の具体的な旅程の解明、②50年代日本の文壇がWilliamsにもたらした影響の検証、③Williamsが帰国後に日本の伝統演劇（特に能）に影響されて書いた戯曲の分析。
