本研究は、ジャン・パウル (1783-1825) が新聞・雑誌、文学テクストのアンソロジーとどのように関わっていたのかを追跡する作家論的な調査、1800年前後のドイツ語圏における新聞・雑誌についてのメディア論的な考察、新聞・雑誌、アンソロジーとの類比関係からジャン・パウルの小説の構造を探るテクスト論的な考察からなる。ジャン・パウルの小説を、複数のエピソードが互いに照応し、ゆるやかに結びついているテクスト群として捉えることによって、新たな解釈の可能性を提示する。
