Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、イエズス会士によって編纂された日本初の西洋語の辞典である『羅葡日対訳辞典』（天草、1595）の植物の項目を研究対象とする。この辞典には多くの植物名がラテン語の見出語として掲載されており、そこにポルトガル語名と日本語名が添えられている。多くの植物のラテン語名がまとまった形で日本に紹介されたのは初のことである。西洋古典受容史のみならず、日本の植物学史において偉大な業績であるこの辞典には、未だ植物の語彙に関するまとまった研究がない。本研究では、この辞書の植物に関する項目がどのように作られたのか、そしてこの辞書は植物名の項目を通じてどのように後代に影響を及ぼしたのか、を中心に検証する。
