Outline of Research at the Start

アルタイ諸言語の研究は、(1) 系統と類型の議論において重要であり、(2)「危機言語」の記録・保存という意味で重要である。(1) を論ずるためには、(2) の記録の充実が不可欠であり、(2) について急所の資料を収集するには (1) の観点が不可欠である。つまり両者は相互補完的な関係にある。アルタイ諸言語は、朝鮮語や日本語の起源との関連で重要視されてきた言語群であるが、それらの言語との系統関係も不明である。一方地理的に日本の最も近くに位置する言語群であり、類型的にみても日本語と文法構造が最もよく類似したタイプの言語群である。本研究課題の学術的「問い」はまさにこの点に関するものである。
