Outline of Research at the Start	日本語共通語の複数形式は（擬人的用法を除けば）非ヒト名詞には付けられないが，一方で日本語・琉球語諸方言には非ヒト名詞に複数形式が付けられる体系をもつものがある。非ヒト名詞に複数形式，特に連合の複数が付く現象は類型論的に珍しい現象であることが知られており，この現象の詳細な分析は言語一般における複数性の解明に貢献できる価値を持つ。しかしながら日琉諸語の複数性表現の包括的な記述はいまだに無く，特にその意味用法の解明は残された課題となっている。本研究は，非ヒト名詞に付く複数形式に焦点を当て，さらに諸外国語（その方言も含む）との対照研究の知見も合わせて，日琉諸語の複数性表現の多様な意味用法を解明する。
