Outline of Research at the Start

初期インド・アーリア語の特徴的な音韻現象の中では、古期の重子音化は中期の完全同化の先駆けとされ、また、古期の鼻音そり舌化は非接触同化として知られているが、特に中期初期のガンダーラ語に見られるr音転換やr音性拡張との類似性が注目される。古期および中期初期の文献の精査により、古期と中期の類似現象の関連性を検証する。分析は一般音韻論や歴史言語学の成果を踏まえて、近年の社会言語学で進行中の変化の変異に注目したアプローチを取り入れる。予測される結論としては、限定的で一般的な変化が多数集積することにより、大規模で特徴的な変化に帰結したと考えられる。
