Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、日本各地で衰退の傾向にある地域方言の使用・理解についての大規模調査を実施し、データサイエンスの手法を用いて、共時的・通時的に分析することで、方言の保持・衰退のメカニズムを明らかにすることを目的としている。本調査で扱うデータは、変化が複雑である上に、情報量が多く、単純集計による可視化では解釈が困難である。よって、言語の変化を扱う研究領域における新たな分析手法を提案し、大規模調査によって得られたデータの単純化や変化の定量化をしつつ、言語変化に関する現象とその時期を可視化する。また、方言の変化に関わる言語内外の要因を明らかにし、衰退傾向にある方言の記録・保存・継承に寄与することを目指す。
