Outline of Research at the Start	本研究では、聖書外典に伝わる聖母マリアの被昇天を題材とし、中英語（大まかに1100-1500頃に話された英語を指す）で書かれた韻文作品『聖母マリアの被昇天』を文献学的観点から調査を行う。当該作品は、複数の写本によって伝わるが、その研究が十分でない写本に注目し、詳細な調査を行い作品の起源や伝播など様々な問題を検討し、校訂本を作成する。また、聖母マリアの被昇天については中英語より前の時代の英語でも複数のテキストで伝えられているため、通時的な観点で比較・分析することで、英語の言語としての発達を検討し、その資料の有用性を強調する。
