Outline of Research at the Start

日本語を母語とする英語学習者は、[ba]と[va]の弁別ができても、非単語venefitを、実在語 benefitと聞いてしまう可能性が高い。この現象は、学習者の単語の発音に関する知識「音韻語彙表象」が精緻でないためとされる。本研究では、学習者の音韻語彙表象の実態、つまり「学習者は英単語の発音について何を知り、何を知らないか」を、実験を通して探る。また、習熟度や英語圏滞在経験など、どのような要素が表象の精緻さに関わっているのかを調べる。さらに、表象の精緻さに関わる訓練の効果の大きさと持続性についても調査し、教育に対する示唆を得ることを目指す。
