Outline of Research at the Start

欧米においては君主や指導者のイメージ形成における各種の記念式典が果たした役割についての研究が多数取り組まれていた。特に過去に体制転換が起きた国においては、過去のどの要素を取捨選択し未来に継承するかを示す場として、そうした指導者が臨席する各種の周年式典が使用された。本研究ではそうした背景を踏まえ、日本において天皇が臨席した戦後の周年式典に注目し、戦前に関わる要素をどのように取捨選択し、戦後的な要素と組み合わせ、両者を接合した記憶を形成したかを明らかにする。また、そうした式典が戦後の象徴天皇像の形成に与えた影響も明らかにするとともに、それらの式典関係の資料を保存したアーカイブの現状も明らかにする。
