Outline of Research at the Start

「対外硬」運動が、日清戦前から日露戦後にいたるる日本政治で常に動因として機能したのは何故か。本研究は、ラッコ・オットセイ猟を中心とする海獣猟を補助線として用いることで、従来は一国の政治社会内部の論理で説明されてきた「対外硬」運動、ひいては当該期の日本政治史・思想史を、当該期の太平洋世界における労働力の移動と情報の環流というトランスナショナルな視点から位置付け、説明するための新しい論理を構築する。
