Outline of Research at the Start	相模野台地を中心とした神奈川県は旧石器時代石器群が包含されている関東ローム層が富士火山に近いことから厚く堆積しており、層位的出土例に恵まれている地域である。この地域の旧石器時代石器群の層位的編年に放射性炭素年代による高精度年代を付与し、精緻な石器群編年を構築する。そして、石材利用史や遺跡構造変遷など含め石器文化と地域社会の時空的変化から「旧石器時代史」のモデルケースを構築する。
