Outline of Research at the Start	本研究の目的は、近代日中関係のなかで大きな役割を果たした「人」の要素を、領域を越えた「人的ネットワーク」として捉え、昭和戦前期から21世紀初頭までの日中関係に通底する構造的特徴を実証的に解明することである。主たる課題は、①昭和戦前期の、日本の「支那通」外交官を中心とする政官界ネットワークと、経済界、メディア、学界などの民間ネットワークを解明する。②ネットワークを利用した情報伝達、人の動き、対中政策への関与などを検証し、その機能を明らかにする。③日本側の、領域を越えたネットワークと、中国側の「日本通」ネットワークとの協働を考察し、人的ネットワークが主導する日中外交の特質を明らかにする。
