Outline of Research at the Start

古代日本国家は、東アジアの文化・品々を受容しながら、外来文化を日本独自に組み替え、10～11世紀には以後の日本文化の基層となる国風文化を形成した。その一方で、東アジア広域で影響力を持った文物は、各地の王権の規制や自然環境などの影響を受け、その入手には難易が存在していた。このような環境下において、古代日本は文化受容の面でいかなる「意識的選択」を行っていたのか。本研究はこのような問いを中心として、主に7～13世紀の唐宋代東アジア交流環境とそこにおける古代日本の文化受容の構造と特質を明らかにし、これを通じて、中世以降の歴史的展開及び隣接分野につながる基盤を整備することを目的としている。
