Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、新興勢力である鎌倉幕府の地方進出によって、在来の社会勢力や既存の支配秩序がどのように変化させられたのか、既存の支配秩序のいかなる部分が残されていったのか、その変容と存続の具体相を、鎮西と奥羽との比較をもとに研究するものである。具体的には、鎮西では大宰府と各国衙、奥羽では陸奥・出羽の両国衙といった朝廷の地方統治機関をとりあげ、行政・訴訟・在庁の3つの面から鎮西と奥羽とを比較検討する。あわせて鎮西と奥羽の両者に共通する部分と異なる部分とを浮き彫りにし、その特徴をつかむ。以上により、日本の周縁部に展開した公武による地方統治の実態と、中央（京・鎌倉）と鎮西・奥羽との関係性を明らかにする。
