Outline of Research at the Start

2019年に「百舌鳥・古市古墳群―古代日本の陵墓群」は世界文化遺産に登録されたが、陵墓古墳は「世界遺産時代」における文化遺産として捉えられる。その際に国内法が文化財保護法ではなく皇室典範と国有財産法（皇室用財産）にもとづいたことや、「○○天皇陵古墳」という名称で登録されたため、宮内庁による仁徳天皇や応神天皇の皇霊祭祀が執り行われることをイコモスは評価している。それは古事記・日本書紀批判という戦後考古学・歴史学の成果が否定されたことになる。こうした問題を、古墳時代・古代から現代までの考古学・歴史学の研究者により学際的に研究し、今後の陵墓古墳の調査・保存・活用のあり方も考えたい。
