Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、ヨーロッパ中世の異端排斥運動の研究である。具体的には、正統派マジョリティー（キリスト教信者）が非正統派マイノリティー（キリスト教異端者）を社会から排除する集団として機能させるために、正統派の長（教皇・教会）がとった方策、およびその方策のなかに存在した法的・宗教的権威に基づく強権的・暴力的側面を明らかにしていく。マイノリティーに対しての暴力が容認された背景で、マジョリティー内部で発生していた暴力的要素の様態を明らかにする。従来の異端排斥運動の研究は主に、正統派が異端派に対してとった攻撃・暴力に注目している。本研究では従来研究に欠落している正統派内部で生じていた動きに注目しする。
