Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、カナダ国ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州（以下、ＢＣ）における第二次世界大戦中の日系人の強制移動に関する実証的研究である。強制移動地の決定プロセスを、移動直前のカナダでの居住地、生業と家族構成から検討する。その際、近年に公開されたカナダ公文書館・敵性外国人資産管理局の財産記録を活用する。ただし、この資料には日本の出身地が記入されていないため、『加奈陀在留邦人々名録』をはじめとする日本語住所氏名録を併用する。これらの資料から、移動地の決定と地縁・血縁的ネットワークとの関係性、ならびに移動地においてカナダ政府から提供された住宅の選定プロセスを検討する。
