Outline of Research at the Start	より一層緊張が激化する北東アジアを構成する日韓関係の現状に焦点を当てながらも、こうした日韓関係がどのように形成されてきたのか、その歴史的起源や展開過程を、20世紀後半の冷戦秩序、さらに19世紀末から20世紀前半にかけての帝国主義秩序の2つの秩序形成に遡って明らかにする。そして、こうした歴史の検証作業を通して、現在の北東アジア国際関係の現状への対応と将来の見通しに関して有意義な知見を獲得し、外交政策の選択と実施に関して貢献する。さらに、現在の視点から過去の歴史を再検証することによって、20世紀前半の帝国主義秩序、20世紀後半の冷戦秩序の歴史的再検討を行う。
