Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、日本の地方自治体を対象として、次の仮説を検証することである。
① 女性首長の誕生や女性議員の増加によって地方自治体の財政状況は改善するのか？
② 女性（幹部）職員の増加によって汚職は減少するのか？
これらを検証することによって、地方自治体における男女間格差の是正が地方行財政の効率化に資するかを明らかにできる。仮説が立証されれば、おもに公平性の観点から推進されてきた男女間格差の是正は、効率性の観点からみても望ましく、全国民が恩恵を受ける政策であるという論拠のひとつとなる。ひいては、これが広く認知されることによって男女間格差の是正を加速させることが期待される。
