Outline of Research at the Start

塩漬けイワシは大西洋沿岸より古くから地中海沿岸で流通した商品だったにも関わらず、18世紀の地中海産塩漬けイワシの生産と流通に関する研究は少ない。申請者は、次の課題を解決することにより、地中海沿岸の港町における塩漬けイワシの生産とその販路の広がりを描き出そうと試みる。第1に、塩漬けイワシを積んで地中海沿岸の港町に到着した沿岸貿易船の数を集計する。第2に、地中海沿岸の港町で行われた塩漬けイワシ生産の担い手とその生産量の変化について調査する。第3に、海産物取引に関わった商人の文書から地中海産塩漬けイワシの流通ネットワークついて明らかにする。
