Outline of Research at the Start

This project investigates the determinants and processes of Indonesian healthcare workers' migration into three different countries--Japan, Taiwan and Germany, and examines how their careers are constructed through migration into these different destinations. This study takes an economic sociology approach to international labor migration and sees the labor mobility as taking place on a transnational labor market. In the research, we try to identify the range of actors and their activities in shaping such labor markets, and consequently affecting migrants' career and mobility outcomes.
