Outline of Research at the Start

現代は「ブレーキなき加速社会」である。近代社会は、技術革新・社会変動・生活テンポの加速形態が三つ巴に循環して、社会全体の加速を推し進める。社会の疾走を止める効果的な術はなく、現代人の多くは時間欠乏に苦しむとされる。だが、地域のうごきに目を転じれば、1980年代以降に加速化に抗する「スロー」な運動が国内外で誕生し、持続的に展開してきた。本研究では、日伊スローシティ運動に着目する。加速社会であえて「スロー」を選び取った5つのスローシティ都市政策と生活実態を比較調査する。加速化する現代における地方都市の「脱加速的な発展」の実態と可能性を理論と実証の両面から解明することを目的とする。
