Outline of Research at the Start

口蓋裂は日本人で頻度の高い先天顔面奇形の一つであり、複数の遺伝要因と環境要因との相互作用により発症する多因子疾患であると考えられているが、その発症要因および発症機序については十分に解明されていない。本研究では、口蓋形成の初期におけるビオチン欠乏により、ヒストン修飾やミトコンドリア機能の異常が生じ、口蓋裂を引き起こすという仮説を立て、ビオチン欠乏による口蓋裂発症機序を明らかにする。
