Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、エラスムスの教育思想における「自然」概念を総合的に研究しようとするものである。エラスムスの『子どもの教育について』（1529年）において、「自然」（natura）という言葉は43回も使われており、「自然」はまさしく『子どもの教育について』の中心概念であると言える。エラスムスは、「自然」という概念を教育に適用したほぼ最初の人物であると考えられる。エラスムスは、人間の自然は、私たちの力では変えることができないが、人間の自然を助長することができるという。自然に従って教育するということは、人間の自然を助長することに他ならない。この研究は、近代的な教育思想の源流を探るうえで極めて重要である。
