Outline of Research at the Start

明治初期から小学校で実施された衛生教育は、近代西洋の衛生学をベースとして展開された。西洋から受容された「衛生」概念は疾病予防に力点を置き、近代化以前の日本社会で多用された「丈夫」「健やか」という言葉に象徴される実感的で主観的な身体観・健康観を変容させた。
本研究は近代西洋の衛生の源流を形成したフランスにおいて19～20世紀に展開された衛生思想について考察する。特に（1）アルコール中毒、（2）結核、（3）性病という当時の代表的な社会病理の予防を目指した衛生教育を対象として衛生概念の内実、衛生の観点から求められた生活習慣、性別役割を含む家族規範を歴史的に解明する。
