Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、近代天皇制と教育との関係を学校儀式・行事に焦点をあてて論証しようとする試みである。近代学校発足当時に存在したのは、開校式・開講式（後の入学式）とその数年後に卒業証書授与（卒業式）であった。それは、学習者個人の学習への動機づけと学習の成果の認定を目的としたものであった。その後、教育勅語の発布の前後から祝祭日学校儀式が登場し、天皇制教化の「装置」として意識されるようになる。さらに時代が進むと、それまで個人の学習にのみ焦点づけられていた入学式・卒業式の儀式も祝祭日学校儀式とほぼ同じ内容になる。本研究は、こうした過程を明らかにすることで、近代日本の教育の特長の一端を明らかにするものである。
