Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、地域や時代に根ざした伝統的な素材や技法を対象に、その調製過程、構造、使用方法などを科学的に分析し、現代の科学リテラシーを含めた形で再構築する。例えば、絵画材料である膠（にかわ）の科学的特性や、陶磁器の釉薬の表面微細構造を研究対象とし、これらの素材がどのように特有の機能性や美的価値を発揮するのかを科学的に明らかにしていく。本研究では、文化財を専門とする研究者や高分子物性・理論化学物理を専門とする研究者との共同研究を通じ、多面的な視点から伝統的技法や素材に関する知見と科学的見地からの解釈の融合を図る。
