日本社会での男性の「生きづらさ」の主張と男性優位なジェンダー・システムの維持とがどのように関わっているかを検討する。そのため，日本における男性の「生きづらさ」の主張の背景にある男性に対するジェンダー規範の現状と機能について明らかにする。具体的には，男性に対する規範的ステレオタイプの強さと男性に対する複数役割への期待と，それらに対する信念が異性愛の顕現化やシステム脅威の影響を受けるかとを，実証的に検討する。
