Outline of Research at the Start	有限単純群の分類定理において，いずれの系列にも属さない26個の有限単純群が存在し，散在型単純群と呼ばれている。この散在型単純群をどのように位置づけたら良いかという問いは，有限群論において大きな課題である。群は様々な数理構造の対称性を記述することを通して，その有用性が発揮されるのと同時に，その群の本質を理解することができる。実際，これまで誤り訂正符号，格子，頂点作用素代数の対称性として散在型単純群を捉えることを通して多くの知見が得られている。しかし，散在型単純群のいくつかは，どのような数理構造の対称性と理解するのが自然なのかが未解明である。本研究課題では，これらの問題を解決することを目指す。
