Outline of Research at the Start

接触連星はいかに進化しどのような終末を迎えるのか、精力的な理論研究はなされてきたが、観測的な裏付けが十分ではなく、多くの謎が残っている。本研究では、光度曲線から質量比を簡易的に推定する手法を用いて、過去にない規模での接触連星の質量比を得る。そして、得られた質量比の統計解析により、接触連星の進化過程を明らかにする。また、進化の終末期にあると考えられる低質量比の系については分光観測でその性質を精査し、進化の最終段階にある接触連星の姿を究明する。
