Outline of Research at the Start

能登半島には漸新世（2800万年前）から中新世（1400万年前）の火成活動で形成された火山岩類が広く分布している。これら火山岩類は日本海の拡大時期に活発であった火成活動の産物であると考えられているが、詳細な活動時期や各時代の岩石学的特徴など分かっていないことも多い。本研究課題は、これら火山岩類の地質学的・岩石学的特徴を再検討することを目的とし、北陸地域の同時代火成岩との比較を行うことで、北陸地域における漸新世～中新世火成活動の時空変遷について考察を行う。
