Outline of Research at the Start

インドネシア・ジャワ島サンギランは人類の出アフリカ・世界拡散史の鍵を握る重要な場所である。人類化石が約130万～79万年前までの幅広い年代の地層から産出するため、同一地域で原人の進化が研究できる世界的に貴重な遺跡となっている。しかしながら約30年前から続く年代論争のため、同地域に広く受け入れられた年代枠組み・気候層序が存在しない。本研究では、環境磁気及び珪藻分析を行って、氷河性海面変化とそれに伴う海底・湖底環境、水環境の変化を調べる。最終的には、古地磁気極性層序と調和した、海洋酸素同位体層序に対比できる気候層序を確立する。そして、近年注目を浴びている人口ボトルネックイベントの影響を検証する。
