Outline of Research at the Start	小学校区を生活圏の単位とする「近隣住区論」の提唱から100年が経過した現在まで、生活圏に求められる機能や規模、選択性や多様性の理論は発展してきた。しかし、計画された住区がその後どうなっていくかという長期的な視点は不足しており、今後は変化し適応し続ける住区の計画学が求められる。とくに我が国では、高度経済成長期に形成された郊外住宅地の維持が困難になっているように、計画当初と社会変化のギャップが多くの問題を引き起こしている。そこで本研究は「適応性」を備えた近隣住区、すなわち「適応型住区（adaptable neighborhood）」の可能性を追求する。
