Outline of Research at the Start

「日本統治期の製糖業が，如何に「清朝の台湾」を「日本の台湾」に変えたのか」との問いに対し，まず，明治30年代から大正初期の間に，台湾総督府の政策による「原料採取区域」の範囲の変遷を用いて，「清朝の台湾」の土地を「日本」の土地に組み入れる過程を明らかにしてきた。
本研究では，形式的な組み入れの次の段階として，大正初期から昭和初期の間を対象に，製糖会社の灌漑施設の整備「範囲」が広がる様子を用いて，土地を実質的に製糖会社の管理下に組み入れる過程を明らかにする。具体的には，製糖会社に許認可を与えた台湾総督府側の史料によって，各社の灌漑施設が整備された範囲を地図上に落とし込み，現地調査で実状を確認する。
