Outline of Research at the Start

これまでの大地震災害では、ほとんど報道されていないが、避難者が殺到するトイレにおいて、停電と断水によって発災後24時間以内に大便がてんこ盛りになる「トイレパニック」が必ず発生する。これは結果的に避難所の衛生環境を損ね、感染症や災害関連死の遠因にもなるため、回避することが極めて重要な問題である。
本研究では、この最初動期の避難所大便問題の回避を目的として、特に携帯・簡易トイレに着目する。能登半島地震での使用実態を明らかにするとともに、国民や自治体の災害トイレに関する意識調査を行う。その結果より、避難所の災害トイレのあり方について社会実験を行い、得られた成果を今後の減災に資することを目的とする。
