Outline of Research at the Start

西アフリカでは需給ギャップの拡大により、コメの増産が食料安全保障上の喫緊の課題となっている。課題解決のためには、緑の革命から取り残され、低いままのイネ単収を改善する必要があり、適切な土壌肥沃度管理が欠かせない。本研究は、西アフリカ（主にナイジェリアとガーナ）を対象として、過去35年間の土壌肥沃度の長期変化傾向、および、その変化に及ぼした環境や人為要因の影響を明らかにする。また、緑の革命の恩恵を享受している熱帯アジアの水田土壌肥沃度の長期変化傾向と比較することで、西アフリカ低地稲作の土壌肥沃度管理上の課題を把握し、持続的な稲作収量の増加を実現するために必要な土壌管理手法の提案を目指す。
