Outline of Research at the Start

黒穂病は、世界中のサトウキビ生産地域において深刻な問題となっている重要病害である。高次倍数性をもつサトウキビにおいて、黒穂病抵抗性は多数の遺伝子が関与する複雑な形質と考えられてきた。本研究では、国内野生種「西表8」が有する単一遺伝子による黒穂病抵抗性に着目し、その原因遺伝子の同定と機能解明を行うことで、「西表8」がなぜ1つの遺伝子で高い抵抗性を発現できるのか、その分子的メカニズムを明らかにする。
