Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、近年のヒグマの出没増加の要因の一つが、人里周辺の植生・景観の変化による行動域拡大であるという仮説を検証する。
そのために、ヒグマを捕獲しGPS首輪を装着し移動行動データを得る。そこから生息地選択モデルを構築し、行動域の拡大を促す植生・景観要因を推定する。そして長期観測可能な衛星画像から北海道全域の過去の植生・景観マップを年代ごとに作成し、それらのマップに生息地選択モデルを外挿しヒグマの行動域の歴史的変化を予測する。
現在と過去の行動域を重ね、行動域拡大と出没増加が同期している地域とその景観特性を明らかにし、行動域の拡大と出没増加の因果関係を解明する。
