Outline of Research at the Start

ウナギのウイルス性血管内皮壊死症は養鰻における重要疾病であるが、本病に対する根本的な対策は確立されていない。これまでの研究において、我々は本病の原因ウイルスであるJEECVのin vitro培養系を確立し、これにより本病に対するワクチンの開発・実用化に向けた研究が可能になった。そこで本研究では、培養ウイルスを用いた人為感染試験系を活用して不活化ワクチン・組換えタンパク質ワクチンの開発に向けた研究を進める。また、国内における当該ウイルスの遺伝子型・抗原型の多様性に関する調査を実施する。これらにより、流行株に広く対応でき、かつ価格・作業コストを抑えたワクチンの実現に向けた研究基盤の構築を目指す。
