Outline of Research at the Start	家禽チフスは、サルモネラ属菌の一種であるSalmonella enterica 血清型 Gallinarum (SG)の全身感染によって起こる鶏の致死的敗血症性疾病である。感染鶏の致死率が非常に高く、発生農場に大きな経済被害をもたらすため、世界中で問題となっている。本疾病を制御する新たな方法の開発が強く望まれているが、標的となるSGの病原因子や家禽チフス発症に至る機序は未だ不明である。本研究では、研究代表者らがこれまで独自に同定した複数のSG 抗原遺伝子のうち、宿主特異的な病原性に寄与することが示唆されるratAの機能を明らかにすることで、家禽チフスの新たな病原機構を探る。
